The Real Stars of this Home Family Portrait Session

This December I traveled a little bit outside the Cincinnati area to do this home family portrait session. The families two Great Dane dogs were very nice and photogenic. I was surprised as they posed themselves just like people (and were big enough to be) in the family christmas tree portrait (to see go to bottom search box and type in “the real stars”).

Both dogs had been given people names. And rightfully so, as they truly are a big part of this family. It was my first time with such large dogs. I was surprised how easy going they were!

Only two years old, Maybel and Stella were really sweet puppies. It was my first experience with this bread of dog. They are very friendly, loving, and confident. They allowed me to get super close with a wide angle lens and take these candid shots of them with their family.

When I asked the kids if they had a favorite dog. The answer was that they liked both dogs. When I asked if either of the dogs had a favorite person I was told that Stella (shown here) likes Gretchen (the Mom). And Mabel (Gray Dane) like Shawn (the Father).

Upstairs I suggested this group shot when I noticed the kids jumping and playing on the bed. The family was up for this pose. I couldn't help but laugh when Emerson piled on top. Everybody was having fun!

Shawn and Gretchen are a great looking couple. I thought this was a great place to pose them at the base of the stairs. I really liked on how the blue walls blended with their clothing.

Here Stella wanders through the house. These dogs are truly gentle giants!

One of the unique things I learned about the dogs was this cow bell tied to the back door of the house. When the dogs want to go outside they ring the bell!!

Emerson didn't skip a beat of his video program as he let Stella out back.

I was really touched when Lillian came down the stairs toward the end of the session with these signs. I just had to photograph them. This was just a great family and beautiful home. What more could I say except that it has been my pleasure too! So Thank You Meyer Family!
